Soho Gardens

Fairfields shoppings centres latest addition to their growing food precinct adds a nice variety of comfort food with a relax environment.

Drinks:

So to combat the intense heat we had a nice variety of drinks.

For once Espresso didn’t go for her signature Espresso Martini (she needs to change her name, what is matcha :P). Instead I went with the Bombay Chai, strong with spices and bold taste with quality Fonzie Abbott espresso, just a quality blend of greatness in a glass. Espresso decided to try two gin and tonics throughout our trip Blood which was more of a citrus hit with the blood orange flavors, and Water the refreshing mint and cucumber combo.

Entree:

Something a little different from our usual immediate pick of steak tartare, was this refreshing and light Salmon Tartare. Served with a side of wontons and wasabi mayo, it was a nice start to our lunch. The mayo was light with wasabi but really creamy, also the portion of salmon was adequate … great for sharing between the two of us.

Ok so this Seared Beef Carpaccio was my pick, I love carpaccio so seeing it on the menu made me a little excited. Bursting with flavor from the sweet Thai Nam Jim sauce and topped with a crunchy slaw, this dish was not lack in the flavor department. So many slices of tender and lean meat, just wonderful to devour… and this was only an entree.

Mains:

To start us off on our mains were these meaty morsels, BBQ Beef Ribs. I’m still not sure why a fork and knife is supplied (who doesn’t like using their fingers?), but I had a lot of fun digging into these. Not lacking in quantity or size, you are given a substantial amount of meat on a plate… lathered in sweet bbq sauce, and ready for your mouth. It was amazing, and I felt like sleep.

Espresso’s main was the Herbed Spatchcock (which I also picked, due to being awesome / Espresso not wanting to pick :P). First impression…wow this thing is huge. I’m not sure why but I was expecting something smaller like quail size, but yeah this was essentially a premium chicken with duck like quality. So succulent and moist with delicious skin. Nice charcoaled finish to the sous vide cooking method they use to lock in all the great flavor. Really loved the herbed butter.

Conclusion:

Fairfield garden is developing very nicely with all the new food selections popping up, and Soho Gardens is a nice addition. Nice large space, even offering a breakfast menu (have to check that next time), with a big menu selection for lunch and beverages… definitely something for everyone .
