[SYD] - Breakfast at Boon Cafe

[SYD] - Breakfast at Boon Cafe

Got up super early, raced to the airport worried that our flight would be delayed or worse cancelled (remember the constant bad weather of heavy rain we’d gotten lately? Yea….that 😩. Arrived at the airport only to find out (1 hour later) that our flight had actually been delayed for another 1 hour.

Relieved, yet a tad frustrated that our flights had been delayed, but couldn't complain as the weather in Sydney wasn’t the best at that time. We dozed a little, snacked a little whilst we waited for our flight to take off for our next adventure to Sydney!

We arrived in Sydney, found the weather a little wet, but not as bad as we anticipated it to be. Caught the train into the city and found our accommodation quite easily.

Our Airbnb host was awesome! We arrived about 11am? and she allowed us to check in quite early. Super friendly, and the location was amazing. Close to the City/China Town yet far away enough for the peace and quiet we craved.

Once we settled in (chucked our luggage hastily into the Airbnb that is 😂) we left in search of food!

Of course….we had our little list 🤩. Our little bit of research prior to coming to Sydney. I mean, we’re only here for a few days….our stomach is only so limited damnit! But it was still SO HARD to choose what to eat. We both had a list….but everything looked so tasty! WHY IS LIFE SO DIFFICULT?! 😂

But, we settled for Boon Cafe on Pitt Street. I had been there previously before and remembered how tasty the Pandan Custard croissant was. My tastebuds were demanding (salivating really) for me to remind it of its tastiness.

Menu:

It honestly was really hard to choose what to eat….the pictures made everything look so appealing. But we were here (to Sydney) on a mission! I am quite fond of thai currys, so we thought that choosing a thai curry would be a safe choice. The ‘gaeng keaw gai with kanom jeen’ (green curry with rice noodles Dr. Google told me - Love you Dr. Google ❤️) is what we settled on.

The curry flavor was really good! However, I feel that we ate the curry wrong? We put the rice noodles into the curry sauce, but there wasn’t a lot of curry sauce to go with? We weren’t sure whether we were supposed to dip the noodles in the sauce? the egg? bean spouts? 🤷‍♂️ I’m sure we ate it in its wrong order 😂 Still quite flavorsome….its not their fault that we are uneducated in the ways to eat it 😆.

The Pandan custard croissant was as tasty I remembered. That lovely pandan flavour with the lightly toasted croissant 🤤. I was a bit surprised how sweet and creamy the pandan was. I don’t usually have pandan (not many places offer it in Brisbane that I’m aware of. If there are, please tell!) It was a nice little treat. And I really like how they were quite generous with the custard.

Drinks, I (of course lol) got a coffee. Usually I favour a black coffee, but I’m in a Thai restaurant I was definitely going to try their Thai coffees 😁. I was keen to try their ‘Kaffe Yen’. Iced coffee with caramelised milk. I found it not too sweet like sometimes you get when they use condensed milk and before i knew it….it was gone 😁.

We also got the ‘Krajiapb’ Hibiscus drink. It was delicious….but a little too healthy for my liking 😁. I’ll stick to my coffee thanks 😒.
