Breakfast at Sassafras

I haven’t been here for many years,
Since then the inside is about the same.
But now there is an backyard area to eat in, and the old chef is now the owner.
This venue is ready for some great times ahead!

Menu:

Drinks:

On arrival we started with strawberry & pineapple juice and a cold brew, bet you can’t guess who had which 😉. Later on we ordered another juice but watermelon and passionfruit. The juices were fresh and delicious with the watermelon being a favorite of mine, apart from the morning coffee.

Food:

✔️ CRUMPETS
- Homemade crumpets w. Peach compote, passionfruit coulis, peach gelato

Soft and chewy with a nice bite.
Surrounded by a nice contrast of sweet and sour flavors, nice and refreshing for these summer days.

✔️ SPICED PUMPKIN BREKKY
- Roasted smashed pumpkin, bacon, poached eggs rocket, za'atar spices on sourdough.

I love za’atar with its strong nutty taste, add in some savoury bacon, and perfect oozy yolk eggs it’s a great mix.

✔️ FRENCH TOAST
- Drenched brioche, fresh, berries, macerated strawberries, citrus curd, pistachio crumb, double cream

If it wasn’t obvious enough, this was my pick.
Soft, chewy, thick brioche covered with a taste bud singing citrus curd is my kind of treat. The fruits merely balanced this sugar coma… but I loved it.

✔️ EGGS ON TOAST
- with bacon, salmon, and hash, avo, and tomato

This hash brown was amazing, It has been so long since I had a proper hash brown like this… I wish we ordered another. Just a great spread of tasty goods ready to be devoured.

Summary

I really loved this backyard space.
Wide open, relaxing, and you can bring your four legged friend if you wish to 😊.
I love their rotating specials (with some making a comeback due to their popularity lol).

Definitely need to come back again soon 😊
