Dinner at Beijing BBQ House

Dinner at Beijing BBQ House

When we first arrived we are greeted by a sign for $28.80 for a hotpot for two.
Needless to say it’s easy to say we couldn’t pass up on this offer. For $28.80 you get two soups, two dishes of meat, veggies, noodles as well as garlic and creamy sesame sauce.

Let’s begin this hot pot adventure. 🍲

First up we began with drinks.
We had the traditional Chinese herbal tea, Wang Lao Ji and another favorite, Calpis (its light, somewhat milky, and slightly acidic flavor, similar to plain yogurt). Both were refreshing in different way but if you can’t handle the spicy levels you should try the wang lao ji.

First side dishes up, the freshly fried potato chips were a must.
Served topped with a garlic bbq sauce… nothing more satisfying than fried potato.

The last image is the large serving of tender bbq enoki mushrooms.
Coasted in a delicious garlic paste, these were a generous serving especially for the valued price.

Next up was a side dish of BBQ Scallops.
Covered in minced garlic and sprinkled with chives.
Under it laid delicious noodles, a nice surprise with the scallop. ❤

Skewer time… I mean, who doesn’t love bbq skewers.
Cooked meat conveniently placed on a stick ready to eat is perfect for me.

We had Three of their chicken wings, including the original with mild spice, garlic and New Orleans.
A really nice varity, and each very crispy but I think for me the garlic was the winner with its extra bit of honey for a little more sweetness.
BBQ Pork Intestine was crispy outside, but chewy and had a nice coating of garlic and sesame for added flavor.
Pork belly and chicken maryland, the best of the skewers I think. Crispy and delicious, I really enjoyed the caramelised exterior but juicy insides… definitely getting this again next time. 😀

The main attraction, the duel flavor hot pot.
On one side was spicy (but not overly spicy), and on the other was a garlic soup.

For the veggie platter we Chinese cabbage, mushrooms, fungus, three variations of tofu, some noodles and an egg. Some can use the egg as a sauce, or if you’re skilled you can poach it in the hot pot of your choice. I really enjoyed the cubed tofu, and how quickly everything was ready… being hungry never helps these situations lol.

For the meat side of it, we went for lamb and beef.
Personally I favor beef, but that’s just personal preference.
Both came with large servings and will easily fill you and your dining companion.

Definitely would come back again.
I really enjoy this area with so many places to check out and things to see (and eat of course).
Service was prompt and friendly, and portions were definitely not lacking ❤.
