Bubble Tea from Cafe Artease

Bubble Tea from Cafe Artease

Living on the Northside has it perks. Great food; pizzas, cafes and most importantly good coffee!! ๐Ÿ˜ (Southside unfortunately just doesn't have the best choices in coffeeโ€ฆ.) However, one of the downsides unfortunately is lack of bubble tea!!!

So luckily we found a really good bubble tea cafe hidden in Kelvin Grove!

This somewhat hidden little treasure legit makes the best (in our eyes ๐Ÿ˜‚) bubble teas! Bubble tea is very subjective in regards to taste and preference (for Miss Y, it's what she drank growing up)

So to those who donโ€™t know what bubble tea is (besides you are really missing out! ๐Ÿ˜‚) - is that it is a tea that is brewed with added condiments - syrups and toppings. Delicious toppings - my favourite if you couldnโ€™t tell ๐Ÿ˜…

What we really like about Cafe Artease (besides the fact that it is pretty convenient to get to) is that you can see they take their art seriously. I really love it when you can see the passion in what they are doing and that they used real fruit to add to their fruit teas.

Weโ€™d been to Cafe Artease multiple times. I canโ€™t say every drink weโ€™ve had from them was great, but they were always happy to receive feedback!

Tek Tarik, is one of Miss Yโ€™s favourite drinks to be had - she generally prefers fruit teas and rarely has milk teas. Tek Tarik is a malaysian milk tea that is brewed quite strong in flavor (hence why Miss Y loves it. She prefers stronger tasting milk teas.)

I remember the first time we had it, they let us know that it takes about 20 min to brew (Its nice to be prewarned). The Tek Tarik came out, and tasted a bit bitter - which Miss Y told me was that it had been over steeped. I tasted the milk tea and did notice that with the milk tea flavor, there was a slight bitterness to it.

We were just sitting outside, drinking our teas and one of the staff came to enquire about how the tea was and if we enjoyed it or not. Miss Y told the staff that the tea had been slightly over steeped and tasted slightly bitter. The staff went back inside and spoke to the owner? of the cafe. He then came back and told us that it was because they needed to brew it for x amount of time and that is why it was slightly bitter. He offered to replace the drink regardless, but we declined because it wasnโ€™t a huge deal.

Miss Y speculates that they may have accidentally added too much tea leaves and therefore it turned out a bit bitter than expected. But it was nice, that they care enough about their art to be accepting of feedback - good or bad.

Weโ€™d had the Tek Tarik a few times after that, and every single time they always warned us that it would take about 20 mins to make. It's great! And no matter how busy they are, they always bring the teas out to you!

Weโ€™ve been to Cafe Artease a few times since the whole social distancing started. Itโ€™s really good to see that they are still open and seem to be going strong - I hope.

They really make the best bubble teas on the Northside. So I hope we will keep supporting our local business and keep them afloat in this difficult time!

Try their teas! Let me know what you think!
